Birrarung and Bushflowers
A spectacular commissioned mural and corresponding artwork for the entry foyer at CHES was painted by our collaborator, Yaggera artist, Jenine Godwin Thompson. CHES is the Centre for Higher Education Studies, in South Yarra.
The centre’s vision was for an artwork that honoured the nearby Birrarung, incorporating both Wurundjeri cultural concepts, Jenine’s beautiful Bushflower designs and the wildflowers representative of the homes of the Aboriginal students who attend the school, some coming as far away as WA. Jenine worked with the students and some of the teachers to incorporate wildflowers from their own areas into the mural.
